More than a sport coat
When most men picture a Harris Tweed jacket, they picture a sport coat. Two buttons, a notch lapel, leather at the elbow. It is a handsome jacket and it earned its place.
Harris Tweed can be much more. The cloth is warm, dense and alive with color. Every Black Bear Brand Harris Tweed is woven by hand in Scotland for the brand, and every jacket is made in Seattle. The western jacket, the ranch coat, the zip coat and the Highlander are cut from tweed of 470 to 500 grams. Here are six cuts.
The western jacket
The Psychedelic BLUE Tartan Western Jacket takes the western shirt shape into tweed. It closes with leather reinforced snaps and is lined throughout in Japanese diamond quilting.
The ranch coat
The Ranch Coat in Harris Tweed Stonewall is lined through the body and sleeves in diamond quilting from Japan and closes with vintage gold YKK snaps.
The chore coat
The GOLDEN Harris Tweed Chore Coat carries Black Bear Brand cuffs, double needle stitching, a YKK donut button and the COMMANDER tag at the inner neck. The collar has a diamond back stitch.
The zip coat
The SKY BLUE Tartan Zip Coat closes with a two way Talon zipper made in Japan, with a zippered chest pocket, two waist pockets and two inner pockets.
The Highlander
The Harris Tweed Highlander Coat is evergreen plaid Harris Tweed with a sherpa collar and body, brushed diamond quilting in the sleeves, and vintage gold YKK snaps.
The car coat
The Evergreen & Pearl Car Coat pairs the evergreen plaid with tight curl sheepskin at the collar and placket and real horn buttons. It is very limited, and it retires when it sells through.
New tweeds every year
Three new Harris Tweeds are woven for Black Bear Brand every year, and each becomes a jacket of its own. This fall it is the Midnight Glen tartan as a western jacket, the Wildflower tartan as a chore coat and, in December, the Moss Fire tartan as a zip coat.
