See and Shop Black Bear Brand in Person
For one rare afternoon, the Black Bear Brand studio in Seattle opens its doors. Reservation required.
The studio is where the work happens. The door is rarely open to the public. On Saturday, October 31, it opens for one afternoon, and you are invited in.
This is a chance to see the clothes in person. You can hold them, try them on and shop them right there in the studio. It does not happen often, and I am looking forward to it.
The Clothes, in Your Hands
A photograph shows you the color and the cut. It cannot show you the weight of the cloth, the hand of it, or the way a jacket settles on the shoulders. That part you have to feel for yourself.
Some of the newest Black Bear Brand designs will be in the room, for men and for women. The cloth comes from the finest mills. Each piece is made in the sewing room where it can be made best. In the studio you can see all of it up close.
Take your time. Try on what catches your eye. When something is right, you can shop it on the spot.
Saturday, October 31
The pop in runs from 12:30 to 3:00 in the afternoon at the Black Bear Brand studio in Seattle.
A reservation is required. We want real time with everyone who walks through the door.
To reserve your spot, email Quentin at quentin@blackbearbrand.com. He will hold your place and send you directions to the studio.
The Second Honey
There is one more reason to come. Our second honey with The French Beekeeper releases at the pop in, and you can meet the beekeeper himself.
The bees are local to Seattle. They fed on blackberry and linden flowers. The honey goes into a 16oz French stoneware jar, and the cork lid is sealed with beeswax. The honey, the jar and the labels were all made and harvested for Black Bear Brand alone. There is a limited number of jars.
To open it you take a butter knife to the wax and lift the cork. It gets messy. That is part of it. The taste is berry fruit with a little mint and something woody underneath. It is also simply honey, and it is very good.
Quentin Geant was born in France and grew up in a tradition that treats beekeeping as a way of life. He brought that knowledge to the Pacific Northwest. He does not heat the honey and he does not filter it. Every batch is small and seasonal, shaped by what the bees find in a Seattle summer. Quentin calls it terroir.
