The Fall Wardrobe I Live In

The Fall Wardrobe I Live In

Fall is the season clothes were made for. These are the pieces I reach for.

The best season

Summer asks very little of clothes. Winter asks for one big coat. Fall is different. The mornings are cold, the afternoons are warm, and you put on and take off layers all day. Every piece gets a turn.

Style is personal. What works for me may not be what works for you. Here is what my fall looks like.

The first layer

The jean jacket comes out first. The ONE Jean Jacket is named for its one pocket. When it gets colder, the Corduroy ONE IVORY Jacket takes over, with a sherpa collar and body, cut and sewn in Okayama.

Shirts

The HUNTLEY Flannel is a green and orange flannel produced in Japan and made by shirt makers there. Under it, or on its own, the Ultimate Thermal Henley in charcoal, 11.5oz waffle knit with custom Black Bear Brand shell buttons, made in Seattle.

Pants

Fall is corduroy season. The Double Front OLD MONEY Green Cords are dyed in a color created for Black Bear Brand and finished in the brand's own garment wash. The Double Front Jeans are 13.5oz shuttle loom selvedge from Japan. I roll mine.

When it rains

In Seattle it rains. The BLACK Wax Canvas Jacket is 8.44oz wax canvas quilted by hand, lined in khaki cotton pinpoint made in Japan, and made in the USA.

The last pieces

On a cold morning ride, the Goose Down Vest in Indigo and a Wool Cable Knit Watch Cap. That is the season.

A Way Of Life.
