Athletes Who Could Wear Anything
A Super Bowl touchdown, two Olympic medals, and a cold lake at sunrise. Movement is the thread that runs through all of it.
A Touchdown in February
On February 8, 2026, the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots 29 to 13 in Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium. For three quarters nobody reached the end zone. Then, early in the fourth, Sam Darnold threw a 16 yard pass into the corner and tight end AJ Barner caught it. It was the first touchdown of the game.
AJ is a friend of the brand, and he wears our Rough-RIDER. He came to Seattle as a fourth round pick, 121st overall, in the 2024 draft, after winning a national title at Michigan.
Two Medals on a Board
Jagger Eaton won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. He was the first American to medal in Olympic skateboarding, and he did it on a badly injured ankle. At Paris in 2024 he took silver, a tenth of a point off gold. That made him only the third skater ever to hold two Olympic medals. He was also the first to win world titles in both street and park.
Jagger and I worked together on the INFORMAL Pant, a pant made for him to skate in. It pays tribute to the west coast pant I raised hell in back in the nineties. It is 10oz cloth, 98 percent organic cotton with 2 percent polyurethane for give, produced specially for Black Bear Brand in Japan. A ghosted pocket sits at the side hip with BLACK BEAR BRAND embroidered above it. The back pockets are reinforced and carry no buttons or snaps, because skaters fall. It comes in black, brown, and khaki.
What Moving Does
The World Health Organization advises adults to get 150 to 300 minutes of moderate activity a week. Athletes live far beyond that line, and their bodies show it.
My own training happens outside, on water, on the road, and on the mountain. Every one of those things asks the body to be ready, and the asking keeps it ready.
Why Athletes Notice
Athletes notice clothes because their bodies are their work. They feel every seam and every ounce of cloth. When men who can wear anything in the world choose ours, I take it as high praise.
