Jeans from Okayama
Black Bear Brand denim is shuttle loom selvedge, produced for Black Bear Brand in Japan, and the jeans are made in Okayama.
The Vintage BLACK BEAR BRAND Ultimate Jeans are 13oz selvedge of rope dyed organic cotton in botanical indigo. They close with two vintage style snaps backed in leather and a vintage style Talon zipper on natural tape, and they carry vintage style donut buttons for suspenders.
The Indigo Cowboy Jeans are 13oz selvedge, sewn with triple needle stitching in gold thread. The front pocket is shaped to hold a large cowboy buckle, and the cowboy cut comes with a 40 inch inseam. The BLACK Cowboy Jeans are the same cut in black selvedge with black thread.
The ONE Jeans are 13.5oz shuttle loom selvedge in 100% cotton, with a Horween horsehide rough-out patch at the back and a triple needle yoke and rise. They are 100% made in Japan.
Jackets with a story in the cloth
The WINTER Washed Denim Chore Coat comes from a vintage chore coat I wore for decades on adventures around the world. Its WINTER WASH was created in Okayama, when I took the denim jacket I wore for over a decade to our friends, the masters of denim there. It is 13.5oz shuttle loom selvedge, distressed by hand one coat at a time, lined in Japanese diamond quilting, with a sky blue washed corduroy collar.
The ONE CHARCOAL Jean Jacket is 13.5oz charcoal selvedge, triple needle throughout, with a Horween rough-out patch inside the back.
Craft beyond denim
The Corduroy ONE IVORY Jacket is washed ivory corduroy produced for Black Bear Brand in Japan, with a sherpa collar and body and a Horween bone horsehide patch inside. It is cut and sewn in a sewing room in Okayama run by the same family for more than five generations.
The HUNTLEY Flannel is a green and orange flannel produced in Japan and made by shirt makers there, with buttons made in Japan.
A man who loves denim will see every one of these details. That is the gift.
