My Special Run of the Leather Jackets
I made a run of the leather jackets. My own favorites. All of them, already made, sitting here.
They go up Friday at nine.
This has not happened before. These jackets are preorder only. A window opens three or four times a year, it closes, and until the next one there is nothing to buy. This week there is stock, and there is not much of it.
Why these
These are the jackets I go back to. I have made a lot of jackets. These are the ones I wear.
A chance came to make a run of them and hold it. I took it.
Horsehide
Horween horsehide.
Horsehide is tighter and denser than the hides most jackets are cut from. It creases sharp. It holds a shape. It goes a lifetime instead of a season.
There is less of it and it is harder to work. That is the trade, and I take it every time.
The Ghost White hide took over a year to make. Tan sits under the white and comes through with the miles.
Rough-out
Two of them are rough-out. The raw side faces out.
The finished side goes in, so those need no lining at all. The hide is both sides of the jacket.
The raw side shows what the animal lived through. Every panel is its own. No two of those jackets match, and nobody can make them match. That is the good part.
The seven
There is the Rough-RIDER in natural horsehide, rough-out, and the same over-shirt in black charcoal.
There is the Spirit Bear in ghost white, with the tan waiting under it.
Then the Saddle, the aged ivory and the black.
And the ivory rough-out, the Zach Bryan edition.
In all of them
Every one has a gun pocket on both inner sides. Every one carries our own Black Bear Brand YKK snaps. Every one is cut and sewn in the USA by master jacket makers.
Friday at nine
There are very few of each. I made the run I could make.
When they are gone it goes back to waiting for a window. All sales on these are final.
