The pop up in Tokyo is done. It was a great success. Thank you to everyone who came.
I stood in a room with people who wear what I design and I got to talk with them face to face. That does not happen to me often. It was a lot of fun. Some of you traveled a long way to get there. Some of you have been with the brand for years and I had never seen your face until that weekend. We talked about cloth and fit and motorcycles, and we talked about nothing at all, which was just as good.
Then I got on a train and went to Okayama.
東京のポップアップが終わりました。大成功でした。来てくださったみなさん、本当にありがとうございました。
自分がデザインしたものを着ている人たちと同じ部屋に立って、直接話すことができました。私にはそうそうないことです。本当に楽しかった。遠くから来てくれた方がいました。何年も一緒にいてくれたのに、あの週末まで顔を知らなかった方にも会えました。生地のこと、サイズのこと、バイクのこと、それから何でもない話もしました。そのどれも同じくらいよかったです。
それから電車に乗って、岡山へ行きました。
Okayama / 岡山
Okayama is where our denim is woven. Selvedge, on narrow looms, for Black Bear Brand. I have been going back to that cloth for more than ten years and I am still learning it.
The special edition 15oz button fly Cowboy jeans are deep into production. They release in late November.
And 2027 is going to be a year for denim. I am not telling you all of it yet. I will say I came home with a notebook I keep opening.
岡山は、私たちのデニムが織られている場所です。Black Bear Brandのために、旧式の織機でセルビッジを織ってもらっています。この生地には十年以上通い続けていて、まだ学んでいる途中です。
特別仕様、15ozボタンフライのCowboyジーンズは、生産が大詰めに入っています。11月下旬の発売です。
そして2027年はデニムの年になります。まだ全部は言いません。何度も開いてしまうノートを持って帰ってきた、とだけ言っておきます。
Two new corduroy colors / 新しいコーデュロイの色が2つ
I created two new corduroy colors on this trip.
Our corduroy is made in Japan for Black Bear Brand. The color does not come off a card. We create the dye color with the mill, and it is ours. Then every pair goes through our own garment wash, and that is where the depth comes from. The fade is the fun part. Two new colors are coming.
今回の旅で、新しいコーデュロイの色を2つ作りました。
私たちのコーデュロイは、Black Bear Brandのために日本で作られています。色はカードから選ぶものではありません。染めの色を工場と一緒に作り、それは私たちのものになります。そしてすべてのパンツが、私たちだけのガーメントウォッシュを通ります。色の深さはそこから生まれます。色落ちしていくところがいちばん面白い。新しい2色が来ます。
Two new fabrics for 2027 / 2027年の新しい生地が2つ
I finalized two very special fabrics for our 2027 pearl snap shirts and flannels.
I put my hands on a lot of cloth on this trip and sent most of it back. These two I did not send back.
2027年のパールスナップシャツとフランネルのために、とても特別な生地を2つ決めました。
この旅でたくさんの生地に触れて、ほとんどは返しました。この2つは返しませんでした。
Knits / ニット
New knit designs are coming, and the sewing rooms are hard at work bringing them to life.
Some made in Japan sweats are coming. They are going to be an amazing lighter companion to our 30oz USA sweats. The 30oz terry is made entirely in the USA and cut and sewn in Seattle. The new ones are lighter, and they are made in Japan. I want both in my closet, and I will have both.
And our knitting mill helped me create a knit I am crazy about. In 2027 a new watch cap and a new sweater are coming out of it.
新しいニットのデザインが来ます。縫製の現場が、今まさに形にしてくれています。
日本製のスウェットも来ます。30ozのUSAスウェットの、軽い相棒になります。30ozのテリーはすべてアメリカ製で、シアトルで裁断と縫製をしています。新しいものはもっと軽く、日本で作ります。私はどちらもクローゼットに置きたい。そして置きます。
それから、私たちのニット工場が、どうしようもなく好きになったニットを一緒に作ってくれました。2027年、そこから新しいワッチキャップとセーターが出ます。
Two coming up close / すぐ先にある2つ
The Northern Dream jacket preorder opens October 13. Horween veg tanned horsehide. Lined in long curl lambskin from northern British Columbia. Our own diamond quilting in the sleeves, made in Japan. Our YKK snaps. Made in Seattle, where one craftsman spends a full day on one jacket.
The Wildflower Tartan Harris Tweed chore coats, his and hers, are coming together in our Seattle sewing room right now. They release October 22. Harris Tweed is protected by law. Pure virgin wool, dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides, woven by hand in the weaver's own home. Ours is woven for Black Bear Brand in limited production.
Northern Dreamジャケットの予約が10月13日に始まります。ホーウィンのベジタブルタンニンのホースハイド。ライニングはカナダ、ブリティッシュコロンビア北部のロングカールラムスキン。袖には日本で作る、私たちだけのダイヤモンドキルティング。スナップはYKKの別注です。シアトルで作っていて、一人の職人が一着に一日をかけます。
Wildflower Tartanのハリスツイード、メンズとレディースのChore Coatは、今まさにシアトルの縫製室で形になっています。発売は10月22日。ハリスツイードは法律で守られています。純粋なバージンウールを、アウター・ヘブリディーズ諸島で染めて紡ぎ、織り手の自宅で手織りします。私たちの生地は、Black Bear Brandのために限られた量だけ織られたものです。
