Black Bear Brand Tokyo: Ichirota, Josh, and a Painting Made for the Road
Ichirota painted Josh with the motorcycles that carried him across the American West. Now he is bringing the original to Tokyo.
There are paintings that hang on walls.
And there are paintings that come from somewhere.
This one came from the road.
Our friend and artist Ichirota painted Josh Sirlin, founder and designer of Black Bear Brand, with two of the motorcycles that have carried him across the American West.
A 1937 Harley-Davidson.
A 1948 Panhead.
Black Bear Brand Cowboy Jeans. White T-shirts. The Leathertogs 1933 Jacket. The Roughout Chore Coat.
And behind it all, the old Black Bear Brand world.
The painting is wild. There is a Japanese god in each corner. The motorcycles are there. Josh is there. The clothes are there. America and Japan are in the same room.
It is a painting about the things that make Black Bear Brand what it is.
Travel. Design. Motorcycles. Clothing. Japan. America. Time.
Ichirota has finished the painting. Now he is bringing the original to Tokyo.
He will make a special visit to the Black Bear Brand Tokyo POP UP and personally give the painting to Josh.
The original will be displayed at the POP UP for all three days.
And there is something else worth knowing.
The painting is presented here in two parts. The right side and the left side. Put them together and the whole thing appears.
That is the way it should be.
A little mystery.

友人であり画家である Ichirota が、ブラックベアブランドの創業者でありデザイナーであるジョシュ・サーリンを描きました。彼をアメリカ西部へ運んできた二台のモーターサイクルとともに。

Ichirota は絵を描き上げました。そして今、その原画を東京に持ってきます。
ブラックベアブランド 東京 POP UP に特別に足を運び、ジョシュ本人に手渡してくれます。
原画は三日間、POP UP で展示します。
