More than a century later, the name returned.
But not in imitation. In honor.

A tribute to the past, built with the hands and hearts of craftsmen who knew what came before and were willing to carry it forward.

The resurrection of the Black Bear Brand overall began in Okayama, Japan—the world’s capital of denim. There, in a town where vintage sewing machines still hum and cotton threads still matter, Black Bear Brand partnered with TCB Jeans, led by the master Hajime Inoue.

Together, they studied Josh’s original Black Bear Brand tin pants in detail and the engineer stripe fabric of Josh’s original 1913 Black Bear Brand coveralls made with the special fabric… in detail. The way they were replicated the fabric is wild. They didn’t guess. They read it like a sacred text.. The way they were shaped. The cut of the leg. The curve of the bib pocket. The size of the buttonholes. They didn’t guess. They read it like a sacred text.

From this came a new version. One drawn from the old but built for today..

The construction was deliberate. Nothing rushed. Nothing wasted.

A seal between two traditions—Japanese precision and American grit.

• Design base off an original 1930 Black Bear Brand tin pant (Josh provided TCB with his original 96 year old pants for the pattern)…. then done in the special replication of the original Black Bear Brand engineer fabric that was used on the Black Bear Brand original 1913 coverall!

• TCB’s relocation of the Black Bear Brand engineers strip fabric

• Black Bear Brand YKK buttons and snaps

• 100% made in Okayama Japan

• Each pair has been pre-washed to minimize shrinkage

Black Bear was beautiful.
